Happy Anniversary!

When we woke up this morning the power was out...for many an hour. For a while we just laid in bed talking while Adelyn crawled back and forth over our bodies, sometimes stopping to pounce on our heads. When we tired of that we moved to the living room and stared at the ceiling. What did people do without electricity? cable? internet? digital clocks? We started brainstorming ideas and after many vetoes settled on UNO. Jared beat me 5 times in a row. I'm not joking. We had decided to play best 2 out of 3 but each time he beat me I couldn't handle the defeat and begged him to switch it to 3 out of 5, then 5 out of 7. After each loss I'd exclaim, "Play me again! Double or nothing! Triple!" We bet with rights to intimacy, I apologize to all those related to me that just barfed a little. But who hasn't bet on the details of their sex lives??? You all know what I'm talking about. Anyways...like I said, he beat me five times. Luckily just as we started arguing over whether or not winning the game of UNO requires skill or luck the power magically turned back on and we were able to move on with our electricity required lives (laundry...Mario Cart...).

If you didn't get it from the title of this post, today is our anniversary! Second anniversary to be exact. Does it annoy anyone else when people say things like "It's our two week anniversary!" or "Today is our four month anniversary!" The beginning of the word anniversary is "anni" as in "annual" as in once a year. I'll still be your friend if you've said something like that but I'd like you more if you didn't, or instead said something like, "It's our third weekversary!" Yes, that would be much better.

To celebrate our anniversary we had a friend of mine babysit Adelyn and Jared took me to dinner at PF Chang's. We even ordered dessert, which we never do because we're broke as a joke. It was worth every penny. After dinner Jared took me to see....Twilight!!! I know I just saw it, but it was hard to enjoy the first time and I missed a few parts (including the end) when Adelyn was too pesky. Don't tell Jared's brothers, but I'm pretty sure he enjoyed it. After the movie, we picked up the baby, took her home and put her to bed so that Jared I could collect his my UNO winnings.

I considered not posting this picture because Jared looks like he's angry. But he actually wasn't mad or in pain, he just isn't always very good at the picture thing and I didn't want to ask the waiter to take another one. When it comes to pictures and Jared one of three things can happen:

1. He looks angry/in pain (see above)
2. He looks high/has eyes partially or fully closed
3. He takes a good picture

Sorry, I got sidetracked on the picture thing. Point of the story is, it was a loverly anniversary, I hope we have 100 more and

I love my husband's guts!

UNO requires pure luck. It would be 5 out of 9, not 5 out of 7. Jared wouldn't enjoy Twilight. I'll probably have to take Julie. I'm not looking forward to it.

This morning I had cold cereal for breakfast. I actually wanted some eggs and toast, but I got up too late. So I had to settle for cold cereal. There aren't a lot of options in the pantry. I'm sick of granola cereal and I don't really like cocoa roos, so I thought I was going to have to settle for rice crispies. Then I found cinnamon life cereal! It was a pleasant surprise. I quickly added some milk (2% today) and ate my cereal. Delicious!
Then I had a glass of orange juice and hurried out the door. Using my key, I unlocked the door to my car. I climbed into the car, right leg first, and fastened my safety belt. Using the very key I used to unlock the car door, I turned the ignition and started my car. Remember when you had to use one key to unlock the door and another to start the car? I'm glad it's not like that anymore. Then I moved the gear shift into drive and gently pressed on the gas...

Happy Anniversary!

I also cringe when people say, "It's our 6-month anniversary." Um... retards.

i think month-versaries are ok when you're dating... because let's be honest, you've got to milk those relationships for all they're worth. and dating sucks, so you really have to celebrate months at a time to keep from quiting.
but you can't do month-versaries when you've been married because it kind of makes it sound like you have a pre-set expiration date set on your relationship & you're counting down the months...
just my thoughts.
ps i'm still upset/sad that you're leaving me.
