The Silver Lining
If my husband doesn't get into medical school we can go on welfare and have Obama pay for our gas and our mortgage! I'll throw cocktail parties with my food stamps and buy a big screen flat panel HD TV with the monthly welfare check. We'll finally be able to afford that honeymoon. If the cash starts running low, I'll get pregnant again and hope for multiples! We'll be living the life! Gobama Nation!

OK, I can't hear the video, but is that what this woman is saying? Yikes!
ha ha she says Obama will put gas in her car and she doesn't have to worry about her mortgage, etc. "If I help out Obama, he'll help me out."
oh yeah, that video was pretty much awesome.
I'm going to call my husband and tell him to quit his job right now.
LOL. You are so smart. Why didnt i think of that first??
Yeah, I'm planning on dropping out of school.
See-that's why I wish I would've waited to make payments and get myself out of debt. Instead of working hard to do it myself-Obama could have done it for me!!
If you have ever been to Chicago (thats where I served my mission), you would have the pleasure of seeing the projects full of people who drive nicer cars than anyone in our family.
for some reason this was more funny before he actually got elected... now it's just a little bit scary!
poor Obama, everyone thinks he is a savior, he is just a man
I saw this video a little bit ago and wanted to throw up!
It's seriously proves the quote on my blog to be true. Scary.
What do you expect? He promised to remove responsibility from their lives, so of course they'll vote him. Why work hard for yourself when you can let someone else work hard for you?
In the late 1970s - I was maybe - 12? I was in the grocery store line behind a woman wearing a long fur coat (real) and buying groceries with food stamps. It was one of those images you never forget.
That is so saddening to see. It is really upsetting to me when the media continues to interview crazy people like that... wow! I know that there were so many in that Park that night willing to say wonderful, positive things. That video only continued a negative stereotype.
Our welfare systems needs a lot of work. In fact, I think it needs to be gutted. But that does not mean that Obama will require everything to be provided. I wish people would stop assuming that he is for socialism. I'm a conservative who voted democratic for the first time. It took me a long time to read, learn, and decide to do this.
Jacob, I just want to know, who are you referring to when you speak of "their." I really, really hope you're not referring to African Americans. If so, you sound like a racist. There are a lot of reasons why many African Americans voted for BO. The first would probably be that stats wise AAs tend to vote left, and 2nd, that the idea of having a representative so high up in gov't. that represented our race is inspiring, and moving, considering our country's history.
Jeff D- wow, I am so happy that an LDS missionary who served in Chicago would look at people in such a negative light. It really helps break down the stereotype that the Church isn't hateful towards blacks (sarcastic). If you had learned more about the cycle of poverty, types of advertising, lack of education, the perpetration of the "ghetto fabulous" lifestyle then perhaps you would not be so quick to judge. I certainly have seen my fair share of NICE suvs, cars, houses when I lived for a summer in Provo- owned by families who honestly couldn't afford them. Wasn't Utah first in debt a few years ago, doesn't the "prophet" constantly talk about decreasing debt? I know it's a big issue in the LDS community. So please, do not judge the people you taught/knew in Chicago.
Creole Wisdom, I assure you that Jacob was not talking about African Americans. And Jeff D's comment was aimed at policies that pay for nice cars rather than addressing the "the cycle of poverty, types of advertising, lack of education, the perpetration of the "ghetto fabulous" lifestyle" where, I agree with you, the problem lies. It was not aimed at the African American community.
I find it distressing when people automatically assume that a comment is directed at African Americans. I, for one, was talking about irresponsible people. Anyone who voted Obama because they think he'll remove problems from their lives. I thought that was obvious. I believe that it's people who pull the race/racist card first who keep racism alive in our country.
Ok, after seeing this post...I have to add you to my blog roll!
Your just too funny!
Oh and i love the aged pictures...very pretty!
Have a great day! :)
